Founded in 2015, Northline Seafoods was built with a mission to preserve the value of wild salmon at its source. Named after the “North Line” of the Ugashik fishing district in Bristol Bay, we are deeply rooted in the local fishing community and committed to the management resources that sustain them.
With operations in Bellingham, Washington, and Bristol Bay, Alaska we believe a fish is at its most pristine the moment it’s pulled from the water. Our job is to respect the resource by freezing it as quickly and as cold as possible, locking in its freshness, texture, taste, and quality.
After years of prototyping, research & development, and process design discovery and testing, Northline Seafoods secured a $40 million USDA Food Supply Chain loan in 2022 under the “Build Back Better” initiative. This funding enabled us to create something unprecedented: a mobile, vertically-integrated processing barge designed to freeze wild Alaskan salmon whole – no added value steps at the time of freezing, directly on the fishing grounds, preserving its “ocean fresh” quality.
We named this revolutionary barge the Hannah. At 400’ x 100’, it is an engineering marvel that sets new standards for efficiency and seafood processing sustainability. In 2024, Northline launched the Hannah for its inaugural salmon fishing season in Bristol Bay. This marked Northline Seafoods as the first new market entrant in the Bristol Bay fishery in over a decade.
